Founded in Personal Experience
Rothschild’s Orthopedic Appliances, Inc. was founded by Vernon Rothschild whose personal experience led to a commitment to create superior prosthetics. Vernon began working in prosthetics in 1965, shortly after the amputation of his left leg below the knee. He was serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and received an honorable discharge. He then went to work for the prosthetic division of the Veterans Hospital in New York City.
In 1977, Vernon founded Rothschild’s Orthopedic Appliances, Inc. in Forestville, Maryland. He attributes the majority of his success to the fact that as an amputee he was able to appreciate the need to combine lightweight, state-of-the-art components with well fitting socket designs.
Rothschild’s Orthopedic Appliances, Inc. has grown to seven locations in Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania, and includes our own 7,500 square foot central fabrication facility. Our practitioners have an average of over 15 years experience, are held to the highest of standards in our discipline and are certified with the American Board of Certification and/or BOC International. All of our facilities are accredited with BOC International.
